There are two major retarding forces applied by the adhesive to the ball: (1) the adhesion between the ball and the adhesive, often called \u201cgrab,\u201d and (2) the \u201cplowing effect\u201d or energy required to push the adhesive out of the ball\u2019s path.<\/p>\n
